Chapter 21

The closing class of a chapter-by-chapter Bible class on John, and the teacher opens by admitting that chapter 20 already reads like an ending. From there it is all Peter: back at work with an empty net, swimming to shore, eating a breakfast Jesus has already cooked, and answering "do you love me?" three times beside a charcoal fire that recalls the courtyard where he denied him. The class draws out the contrast with Judas (the same failure, a different response) and lands on "what is that to you? Follow me."
