About this sermon

Luke 15's third story told the way a first-century village would have heard it: a younger son whose demand dishonours not only his father but the whole community, a father who hands over the inheritance and then runs down the road to meet him, and an elder brother whose complaint is the real point Jesus is making to the Pharisees. The class then takes Luke 16's dishonest manager (described with the same word, wasting, as the prodigal) and closes on serving God or money, and on what the law was meant to restrict about divorce.
