Coveting - Alex Hartsell
1 Kings 21Leviticus 25:23Psalm 103:2-5
About this sermon
Scripture gives most kings a chapter and gives Ahab four, and Alex Hartsell takes that as a signal to slow down over the thing that finally undid him: a vegetable garden he wanted on land that was not his. Working through 1 Kings 21, he traces the slide from a want to a need to a justified taking (Naboth's refusal of his father's inheritance, Ahab sulking with his face to the wall, Jezebel's staged trial) then asks what listeners are secretly chasing, and whether it is worth shrinking a kingdom down to the size of a vineyard.
