About this sermon
Joshua Higgins opens a January series on ministry with a coach's definition of football - twenty-two men who badly need rest and fifty thousand spectators who badly need exercise - and asks whether the church has drifted into the same shape. From Paul's charge in 1 Timothy 1:18-20 he draws seven marks of ministry: a sacred trust passed down like an order, people building into people, gifts discovered by serving rather than by waiting, a long campaign rather than a sprint, integrity over polish, real casualties, and tasks nobody volunteers for.
