About this sermon
Steve Patton opens a Sunday morning class on Luke by asking why there are four Gospels at all, and why the written record waited some thirty years: until the apostles and the spiritual gifts of that generation began to pass from the scene. He then sketches the man: Paul's companion and physician, almost certainly a Greek and so the only non-Jewish writer in the New Testament, and by volume the author of more of it than anyone else. The class ends in Luke 1:1-4.
