The Rest of Luke 1

Steve Patton begins the quarter's verse-by-verse work at Luke 1:5: Zechariah chosen by lot to burn incense, Gabriel standing at the right side of the altar, and nine months of enforced silence for asking how he could be sure. The class counts the sudden crowd of people speaking for God, from Gabriel to Anna, as the end of four hundred silent years, then sets Zechariah's doubt beside Mary's question at the annunciation.
