The Wednesday class that opens Malachi, working through chapters 1 and 2 with the rest held for Sunday. A played video lays out the book as six disputes, each one God making a charge and the people answering back; the teacher then dwells on the four hundred years of silence that follow, arguing God had already said enough: and that when he speaks again it is a baby's cry in Bethlehem. The chapters themselves supply the charges: how have you loved us, priests who accept blemished animals, and worship offered as leftovers.
